IPEC-Americas exhibited during the inaugural AAPS Pharm Sci 360 Conference that was held Nov. 4-7, 2018. The purpose of exhibiting is three fold: to promote the organization to thousands of AAPS attendees and visitors; to provide educational content as approved by the AAPS programming committee; and to catch up with old friends and new! IPEC-Americas submitted abstracts for 3 rapid fire sessions, which was a new format for the conference. Two abstracts were selected by the programming committee. On Monday, Nov. 5, Joe Zeleznik, Manager of Technical Affairs with MEGGLE USA and IPEC-Americas Executive Committee member and Chair of the QbD Committee presented on "The Critical Need for An Independent Novel Excipient Qualification Process". The following day, Priscilla Zawislak, Global Regulatory Affairs Advocacy Manager for Dow’s Food, Pharma and Medical Solutions and current chair of IPEC-Americas spoke about "How the Pharma Industry Can Influence Excipient Regulation in China". On Wednesday, Brian Carlin, Director of QbD for DFE Pharma and a current member of IPEC-Americas Quality by Design (QbD) and Regulatory Committees, presented in a session titled "Flexibility in Formulation". All sessions were well attended! IPEC-Americas Executive Director, Kimberly Beals, participated in the AAPS Foundation's Annual 5k Race along the scenic C & O Canal and Potomac River, despite the pouring rain, cold temps and a muddy course!
